In this 15-minute one-on-one session, Dr. James Pate (see bio) will discuss issues of character, language, and structure of your manuscript. He will look at aspects that are already strong and will suggest possible improvements.  

  • Submit a five-page Word Document of a work-in-progress (double-spaced, Times or Times New Roman, 12pt. font) by August 28th.

  • Reviews will be limited to the first ten people to sign up.

Pitch to an Agent

Want to pitch your completed novel, short story, poetry collection, or maybe just learn about how to pitch to a literary agent? Come prepared with your best oral pitch and/or questions for your 15-minute one-on-one session with Stacey Kondla of The Rights Factory (see bio).

  • Develop a one-sentence summary of your work.

  • Choose the best focus of your pitch (such as the work’s characters or the theme). 

  • Describe your own writing background and experience. 

  • Practice pitching beforehand to a friend or family.

  • Pitches are limited to the first twelve attendees to sign up.
